Melissa Fassbender of Outsourcing-Pharma.com recently published an article about The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) proposing authors share clinical trial data as a prerequisite to publish. The ICMJE brings up a very good point that patients who participate in clinical trials do put themselves at a level of risk. To repay the patient’s honorable contributions to society, it is really an ethical obligation to share the data…share what was learned…pay it forward. It is important to note that patient confidentiality is not compromised but the learning is shared. This idea may help accelerate even more new thoughts and ideas in research. Why not share? Give your feedback to ICMJE.
